Ernest Race Kangaroo chair

£0.00
sold out

A Kangaroo rocking chair designed in 1953 by Ernest Race for the terrace of the Time Life Building in London. The chair never went into commercial production and is incredibly rare, less than 10 are to be in known existence.

The seat and back rest are made of one continuous length of steel rod, cold bent on a jig.

Structural condition is very good, the chairs usually failed where the upright strut meets the bottom of the seat, but this one is strong and stable. The paint finish is well worn with some evidence of overpainting.
