An original plan by F.H.K. Henrion FSIA (1914-1990) for a display at the Festival of Britain, 1951.

This is for a ‘Poultry section’ exhibition display Henrion designed within the main Dome of Discovery pavilion. See last photo for detail of the actual display with egg-packing trays and the words ‘The Modern Hen’ picked out in eggs!

The plan is dated 7 July 1950 and signed F.H.K Henrion FSIA. Henrion received an MBE (upgraded to an OBE in 1985) for the two pavilions he designed.

Henrion is probably best known for his poster design during the Second World War and pioneering the development of corporate identity in the UK for clients including British Rail, KLM, London Transport, Olivetti, Braun,Tate & Lyle, Girobank, the London Electricity Board, the National Theatre and the Post Office.

Framed with wear to the painted frame. Frame dimensions: 97cm x 77cms.

Love looking at kid’s furniture design from the 50s-70s. All of these feature in the aforementioned ‘New  Furniture’ volumes (Gerd Hatje and Elke Kaspar).
